PREVAILING PRAYER

It was September 1957, four young men began to pray regularly in a little school near Kells, Ireland. They persevered and prevailed in prayer, so someone was converted in January the next year. Following that, there was about one conversion every week. Twelve months later they had a weekly gathering of around fifty people at their meeting, and around a hundred other small prayer groups had sprung up in the area! They held a service the next year, which attracted a huge crowd, so they poured out onto the street. People were convicted by the Holy Spirit, so much that some of them could not stand. Revival broke out, and every night there were gatherings. They prayed, praised, read the bible, and encouraged each other. They held meetings in everyday situations: kitchens, little barns, schools, fields, and even on sidewalks. They would pray and weep all night, and neglected their farm work so they could work for souls. How did it all start? God used four young Irish lads who prevailed in prayer.

"The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” – James 5:16

To promote a revival, we can use two things. One moves people, we can use the other to move God. We use truth to move men, and prayer to move God.

We obviously can't  tell God to do something, but we are changed in prayer, so God can move in us. It's a lot like how God always wants to forgive a sinner, but He can't forgive until the sinner's heart meets God's conditions. So when we pray, the change in us allows for God to answer.

This is why we can't have a revival without prayer. The most exciting messages and truths alone will do nothing. Remember, words will never have any effect without the Holy Spirit. We must spend time in prayer, asking for Him to speak through the words and work in people's hearts. Without it, hearts harden, because they have "heard it all before”.

"Prevail” means to triumph, win through, succeed or overcome. So prevailing prayer is prayer that persists and wins! This is one of the most important keys to a revival. We can't have a revival without prevailing prayer. Prevailing prayer isn't just a desire for something. It's prayer that gets what is sought, it moves God and has impact.

Looking at the story above is just a glimpse of the impact that prevailing prayer has. Whether we are commuting, working, or at home relaxing, we all have opportunities to pray. CONFESSION:   

Zechariah 1:17: Cry yet, saying, Thus said the Lord of Hosts, My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread; and the Lord shall yet comfort Zion and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father Lord, by your mighty power, by the power in the Blood of Jesus, Fire of Holy Ghost, scatter and destroy any hindering spirit around me, in the name of Jesus.

2. Father Lord, scatter and destroy the power of devouring spirit and limitation, in the name of Jesus.

3. Father Lord, any decree made upon my feet because I have come to Christ, let it be revoked in Jesus’ name.

4. Father Lord, let my feet be anointed and washed by your blood to lead me to peaceful place in 2009, in the name of Jesus.

5. Father Lord, release the spirit of carpenter upon me to destroy the horns of enemies, in the name of Jesus.

6. Any decree to cause satanic road-block in my way of breakthrough in 2009, be scattered by fire, in the name of Jesus.

7. Father Lord, come and be our shepherd, to keep us together and save us from thieves, in Jesus’ name.

8. Every satanic or collective power that wants to scatter what I have gathered, I command you to fall down and die, in the name of Jesus.

9. Association of evil gang-up or witchcraft power to cause derailment in my life; scatter by Fire, in the name of Jesus.

10. Any power put in place to supervise and confirm failure in my life, die by Fire, in the name of Jesus.

11. Anything in me contradicting the word of God to cause error, die by Fire, in the name of Jesus.

12. Any power making a decree to affect my standing in the Lord, break by fire, in the name of Jesus.

13. Evil decree or curse over my life, spiritually, physically, financially, matrimonially and educationally, I break you, in the name of Jesus.

14. Anything in me, around me, within me, contesting with the presence of Holy Spirit in me, are you still alive? die forever and perish, in the name of Jesus.

15. Spirit of the Living God, arise and take me to my place of blessing now, in Jesus name.

16. Father Lord, whatever weapon or tricks of the enemy to steal, kill and destroy, destroy them with their weapon forever, in Jesus name.

17. Father Lord, connect, correct and direct my helpers to me anywhere, anywhere they may be, in the name of Jesus.

18. Spirit of the Living God, arise and remove any evil veil covering my face so I can see in Jesus name.

19. Power to succeed in life, come upon me now, in the name of Jesus.

20. Power to see and discern, come upon me, in the name of Jesus.

21. Power to over-come, fall upon me now, in the name of Jesus.

PRACTICAL STEPS TO OBTAINING BIBLE HEALING

There are promises of healing throughout the Bible. There are also practical steps to obtain our healing. Three of these practical steps are found in the following scripture.

Prov 3:7-8

7 - Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
8 - It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. (KJV)

(1) Be not wise in your own eyes.
(2) Fear the Lord.
(3) Depart from evil. These three things produce “health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones.”

These three things shall be health for us throughout our being. To our navel and to the marrow of our bones signifies a complete, thorough health.

These three things must go together. Do not eliminate any one of them and depend on just the other two. Do not remove two of them and depend on just one of them. Obey these words to the fullest. Utilize all three steps. Then it shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thy bones.

Then in the verse below, we find some encouraging words concerning our healing as it relates to our station in life.

Jer 30:17

17 - For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after. (KJV)

Jeremiah 30:17 is one of the most faith-building Scripture in the entire Bible. It speaks of something that keeps professional counselors in business; it speaks of total rejection. It describes a people rejected to the point of being called Outcast. It speaks of the rejection of a people, so thorough and final, that no one ever sought after them to find out what went so very wrong for them.

In other words, God says to us that even if we are called Outcast by those around us, He will still heal us. Even if we dwell on the wrong side of the tracks, He will still heal us.

He says to us here that no matter who we are, He will still heal us.

He says to us that no matter where we are from, He will still heal us. He says that no matter where we live, He will still heal us. We may be in such a state that “no man will ever seek after us.” No matter!

He will still heal us.

God says that He will restore our health to us. He also says that he will heal us of our wounds. Thanks be unto God! He gave us a healing Jesus.
